Please Help Preserve Joan's Childhood Church in Domremy.
The following information comes from the APREJA, President, Isabelle Marie Roisin.
APREJA =
"The Association for the Restoration of the Joan of Arc Church"
Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in Domremy -La-Pucelle, in the peaceful Vosges department of France.
The little church where Joan was baptized is located next to her birthplace.
Because of its progressive deterioration, the village council decided to restore the Church of Saint Remi.
The restoration will be done in two stages:
Stage one
= repair the roof and the 13th century tower.Stage two
= renovate the inside of the church: heating, lighting, painting of the walls, restoration of the pews, safety device, etc.The work started in June of 2005 and should be completed by 2008.
The cost of the first stage is 400,000
€'s financed by the EU, the French government, the Vosges General Council and the village of Domremy. The EU nations will not supply the estimated 560,000
€ amount needed to cover the second stage restoration expenses. Therefore it was decided to create the APREJA organization.Your donations to protect this very important historical site are greatly welcomed. Because this is a foreign charity, I do not believe donations are deductable in the United States. See
http://www.t-tlaw.com/foreign-2.htmYou will have to investigate the situation in other countries. There are three ways in which you can donate
